Spring 2019 Baseball Season

Spring season will run from March 24th to May 19th with a total of 7 Sunday games at Hawes Park. There will be an Orientation day on March 17th for players to meet their teams, coaches, and buddies. Exact times are still to be announced.

How can you make a difference?

By giving only a few hours of your time, you will make a difference in a special child’s life, and you will create a positive awareness of yourself.
Season volunteers include coaches, assistant coaches, full-time buddies, and floater buddies. Game day volunteers include umpires, field set-up/clean-up, game day announcers, and more.
We thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer to support The Miracle League and the individuals we serve.

If you are interested in coaching please contact Gary Morton: MLSFPEN@gmail.com or (650) 867-4094. If you are interesting in becoming a buddy, please click here for more information.

Season Volunteers

Coaches – Minimum age is 21. Coaches provide guidance, encouragement, and compassion as well as team organization. There are one coach and two assistant coaches per team. A background check will have to be completed. Coaching experience is not required.
Full-time buddies – Minimum age is 10. Buddies provide safety first, enthusiastically play baseball with their special needs athlete and encourage them to have fun. Our goal is to have one full-time buddy paired with every player each season. Full-time buddies are expected to attend at least 6 games per season. To learn more about the buddy program, click here
Floater buddies – Minimum age is 10. Floater buddies fill-in where needed when full-time buddies are unavailable. Our goal is to have three floater buddies per team.

Game Day Volunteers

Game days are the most critical aspect of our organization. Many volunteers are needed to make game day operations run smoothly. The Program Director establishes the volunteer schedule once the game day schedules are established for the season.

Game Day Volunteer Opportunities
  • Play-by-Play Announcer
  • Scorer’s table - One volunteer is needed to assist the announcer during each game.
  • Umpires - We need one to two umpires each game. The role of the umpire is to monitor the flow of the game, return balls to the pitcher, and place the tee on home plate for players that require batting assistance.
  • Snack bar, selling MLSFPEN gear, and handling donations – Two to four people are required for each game.
  • Field Set-up/Clean-up – Volunteers are needed to help the Program Director in these duties.
